In this one-hour, fast-paced session, authors will present on their recent articles. Additional oral abstract speakers will discuss research, and 10 minutes are reserved for audience questions.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Compare the effects of lornoxicam and etodolac on postoperative sequelae following lower third molar surgery based on findings from a prospective split-mouth clinical study.
  2. Evaluate the impact of cognitive aids on team performance during simulated outpatient oral and maxillofacial surgery anesthesia emergencies.
  3. Discuss whether oral and maxillofacial surgeon experience is associated with differences in antibiotic prescribing patterns to Medicare beneficiaries.
  4. Analyze the differential effects of intraoperative intravenous dexamethasone on postoperative pain when used in combination with non-opioid versus opioid-based analgesic regimens.
  5. Assess the efficacy of liposomal bupivacaine (Exparel) as an adjunct to standard local anesthesia for reducing postoperative opioid use following third molar surgery, based on a randomized controlled trial.
