David Y. Ahn, DMD, FACS

David Y. Ahn, DMD, FACS is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon specializing in TMJ surgery and minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques. He serves as an attending surgeon at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and is in private practice in San Francisco, where he focuses on advanced TMJ arthroscopy, total joint replacement, orthognathic surgery, and complex facial reconstruction.

Dr. Ahn completed 12 years of active-duty service in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his military career, he served as Program Director at David Grant USAF Medical Center, where he trained residents and led surgical education initiatives. He completed a TMJ surgery fellowship with an emphasis on arthroscopy and has extensive experience managing complex TMJ disorders, including revision joint replacement and minimally invasive joint preservation procedures.

He is actively involved in innovation and research in TMJ surgery, particularly in the application of augmented reality navigation and advanced arthroscopic techniques. Dr. Ahn is passionate about advancing patient-centered, evidence-based care while expanding educational opportunities for surgeons seeking to refine their TMJ skillset.
