Mahdi Zakeri, DDS, MDent, FRCD(C), Dip. ABOMS, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is an American-Canadian board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with fellowship training in orthognathic and temporomandibular joint surgery. His clinical focus includes orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint disorders, minimally invasive, and total temporomandibular joint replacement. His academic work focuses on improving functional outcomes in orthognathic and TMJ surgery. Dr. Zakeri’s translational research interests include patient-specific 3D-printed scaffolds for horizontal and vertical alveolar ridge augmentation, and the development of wireless electromagnetic implants to minimize alveolar bone resorption following tethth extraction, improve the quality of bone augmentation, and accelerate de novo bone regeneration.
