Dr. Guastaldi is an Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, as well as Director of the Skeletal Biology Research Center, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Surgery, at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has built a distinguished career at the intersection of clinical surgery, biomaterials science, translational research, and regenerative medicine. He leads pioneering research in bone and cartilage tissue engineering.
Dr. Guastaldi received his DDS degree (2006) from the Dental School of Ribeirão Preto (Brazil). He is a Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and holds a Master of Science (2010) and a Ph.D. (2013) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Dental School of Araçatuba (Brazil). He was a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Biomaterials and Biomimetics at New York University College of Dentistry in 2012. He completed two Postdoctoral Research Fellowships: the first at the Dental School of Araraquara (Brazil) (2014-2017) and the second at the Skeletal Biology Research Center at MGH (2017-2019).
Dr. Guastaldi has published several peer-reviewed articles on bone tissue engineering, TMJ regeneration, and artificial intelligence. He is one of the editors of the book “Bone Tissue Engineering: Bench to Bedside Using 3D Printing” (Springer, 2022).
