Complications can occur during all phases of surgical care of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The wide variety of TMJ surgeries and their indications also make the nature of the complications and their impact particularly complex. Moreover, prevention and management strategies vary significantly, owing to lack of robust scientific evidence and to controversies surrounding some approaches. This session will offer the latest updates on prevention and management strategies for different complications that can be encountered in the TMJ surgical patient.
