The Department of Health and Human Services has finalized updates to the HIPAA Security Rule and is preparing to implement the new Health Infrastructure Security and Accountability Act (HISSA). OMS practices will be required to meet expanded expectations for risk assessments, patient access to health information and cybersecurity training and protocols. This course will cover all of the relevant changes and present practical solutions for compliance.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Identify the recent changes to the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
  2. Identify the requirements of the HISAA rules that apply to dental practices.
  3. Evaluate current protocols for patients to access their electronic health information.
  4. Assess the current level of cybersecurity for their OMS practice.
