Salivary gland disorders affect 1 percent of the population and are often encountered in the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery. This session will review bacterial, viral, autoimmune and other salivary gland diseases in the pediatric and adult populations and give a 2026 update on current evidenced-based information on etiology, diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment.

List the most common salivary gland disorders in pediatric and adult patients and define their underlying etiologies.
Describe current evidence-based diagnostic techniques for evaluating salivary gland diseases, including imaging and minimally invasive approaches.
Compare and contrast modern treatment modalities for salivary gland disorders and assess the risks and benefits of each option.
