SSOD48 - Orbital Complex Fractures: How to Optimize Best Outcomes

Indications for the management of orbital floor fractures have been extensively reported. However, these fractures can provide a diagnostic and management challenge to surgeons. Inadequate treatment of orbital fractures can lead to complications such as enophthalmos, visual disturbances, ocular motility restriction, ocular or orbital dystopia and associated soft-tissue defects. This course will focus on the surgical techniques utilizing state-of-the-art patient-specific planning and implants to achieve the best outcomes. The discussion also will highlight specific cases with treatment strategies, including revision cases.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Describe current concepts and clinical and radiographic indications for the treatment of orbital fractures.
  2. Understand the latest technological advances, surgical approaches and principles in the management of orbital floor fractures.
  3. Identify and manage complications with specific focus on revision cases and the use of patient-specific implants.
