Microsurgical suture neurorrhaphy is the current gold standard for nerve repair, but is technically demanding, time-consuming and may cause localized inflammation or foreign body reactions from trauma to nerve stumps. Failures in neurosensory recovery are often linked to technical errors such as excessive tension, poor coaptation or gap mismanagement.
Nerve Tape (NT) is a sutureless device that secures and wraps nerve ends, reducing operative complexity and avoiding suture-induced trauma. It can shorten operative time and optimize conditions for axonal regeneration. NT is easy to apply, does not require an operating microscope and can be used reliably even by surgeons with limited microsurgical training. Its reproducibility is particularly advantageous in oral and maxillofacial surgery, where nerve repair often occurs alongside major procedures such as tumor resection or trauma repair.
