Dr Bouloux obtained his dental degree from Sydney University in 1989. He then completed a 3 year GPR at Westmead Hospital in Sydney.
He then completed a 4 year residency on OMS at Westmead which was completed in 1996. This was followed by a 2 year fellowship in Temporoamdibular joint surgery at Emory University. He obtained his medical degree from Emory University in 2004 and after completing a 1 year internship at Emory joint the OMS faculty in 2006. He was appointed Program Director in 2013 and Division Chief in 2021. He has served on multiple AAOMS committees including the Committee on Research and Technological Assessment, Committee on Education and Training, Special Committee on TMJ Care and served on the board of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation (OMSF). He was Chair of the Faculty section of AAOMS in 2017. He was President of the American Society of Temporomandibular Joint Surgeons from 2022 to 2024. He is also the Section Editor for the Anesthesia, Temporomandibular Disorders, and Facial Pain for the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr Bouloux recieved the research recognition award for AAOMS in 2017 and the Daniel M Laskin award for the most robust publication in JOMS in 2018. His has also received two OMSF research grants. His research interests include the diagnosis and management of TMJ disorders.
He has multiple peer reviewed publications and book chapters in multiple topics.
