This session will provide valuable information on how to establish a nonprofit organization for global surgery, discuss in-country partners and how to establish that relationship, and hear from humanitarian surgeons who have provided surgical care globally. Each surgeon will share unique experiences including ensured follow-up care, humanitarian surgery beyond cleft lip and palate, and global surgery in war-torn areas. This course will engage surgeons, residents, dental students and OMS staff.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

Identify and discuss how to establish a nonprofit organization.
Understand what an in-country partner is and its importance to the success of the global surgery initiatives, including comprehensive cleft care.
Review multiple global surgery opportunities for maxillofacial surgeons beyond cleft care.
Examine and consider humanitarian surgical outreach to war-torn regions.
