Dr. Shravan Renapurkar is an associate Professor, attending surgeon and associate director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) residency program at Emory University. He has experience and expertise from similar roles at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) over the last 10 years. He completed a residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University of Minnesota followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to his OMFS training, he had received a Doctor in Dental Medicine (D.M.D) degree at Boston University and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree at Government Dental College and Hospital, Hyderabad, India. Dr. Renapurkar’s clinical practice includes a full scope of core Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with emphasis on facial deformities, temporomandibular joint disorders, benign maxillofacial pathology and facial trauma. He has published several peer reviewed articles, book chapters focused on his areas of interest. His research focus includes TMJ disorders, benign maxillofacial pathology and facial deformities. He lectures at local, state and national professional meetings. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), American College of Surgeons (ACS) and American Society of Temporomandibular Joint Surgeons (ASTMJS). He has served in several leadership roles including as the past president and current executive committee member of the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, member of AAOMS Committee on Research Planning and Technology Assessment, member of Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee in the Gorlin syndrome alliance and an examination committee member in the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is actively involved with undergraduate and graduate OMFS education, and has been honored with the Dean’s award for educational innovation at VCU school of Dentistry and recognized in the “Top Doctors” in OMFS by peer selection in the Virginia Business magazine for 2025 and 2026.
